The Cat Eye for Fall 2013

September 22nd, 2013

The cat eye is here to stay. This was a very popular look during last season’s fashion week and proved to be even more popular among the most famous designers this season as well. One major difference this season was the seemingly limitless colors and effects. To achieve this look, you must start with a great liquid liner. There are many in the market but we especially like Kevin Aucoin and NYX as great starter liners due to their ergonomic design. Stila and Lorac both have a waterproof formula that will stay on all day. NARS makes a really good liquid liner that comes in multitude of colors and will allow you to experiment. But our absolute favorites are MAC and Hourglass. Both are artist friendly and allow for thick or thin lines that stay put without smudging. You definitely do not need to stop with your liner. You can add to your cat eye look by applying a dark shadow in the outer corner of the eyes to create an “extended-eye look”. We love the deep eggplants, dark sage, and charcoal for the fall. Make sure you blend well and use a lighter shadow in the warm tones on the lid to complete your look. If you are new to shadows try brands that are not very rich in pigmentation like Lancôme, Clinique, etc. If you are a makeup lover definitely go with a more artist friendly line like MAC, Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, etc.
